possibility of having gradline overlays for maps
Possibly.. I’ll look into it. I’m also looking into see how difficult it is to port the program to Droid and Iphone. Right now you can’t add a grid.. But I bet we can add that.

possibility of having gradline overlays for maps
I hunt on a club located on a timber company lease.  The area is rough............some of the folks have been hunting there for over 30 years but most hunters don’t know the area and only hunt for a few days a year.   Stand locations and deer drives have acquired names over time the problem is that the majority of the hunters don’t know specifically where the stands and drives really are.The question is it possible to have a grid overlay say of 100 yards that could go over a map?  That way every grid could have a locator alpha and numeric locator.  The grid could be further broken down when giving the location to a person say being put on the "old rock stand" in quadrant A of grid F-17.A map could be printed and given to the hunters a the scale which would include the most features in a specific stand, and or drive.  Given the fact that this lease has zero food plots the majority of the hunting includes drives. Will Connor   Marcellus NY   wilcocsc     wilcocsc@aol.com

No options for MAC users?
The problem is.. None of the developers has a Mac.   If I could find an emulation program that was reasonably cheep, I would consider it. There are windows emulators  you can get for the mac that are free. You could download a windows emulator for your mac and then you would be able to run our software on your mac.

I wouldn’t be too worried about it. truth is it’s much worse to leave it hanging in hot weather. Ideal temperatures would be around 45 Degrees Farenheight. It’s not good to keep it hanging in temperatures below freezing however your only talking about a couple of days.

I was wondering if it would harm the meat too much to let it hang in below freezing weather. My husband shot a doe today and the weather will be in the teens at night and low 30’s during the day. We dont have anywhere inside to hang it. Will probably be a couple of days before it gets cut up.

hanging the deer depends on what it has been eating, up here in ma when im hunting a corn field I cut them up right away, when i hunt the moutains and no real good feed around but nuts and stuff i skin the deer right away quarter it up then put it in my extra fridge for a week between 35 + 38 degrees just dont freeze. this helps tenderize it and helps gets rid of that game taste theres nothing worse than eating a deer that has been eating pine,

We don’t age the meat at all.  Most of our deer are cut and wrapped by the day after they are shot.  The fresher the better as far as I am concerned.

Iwould like to know how long you all let deer hang before cutting it up. If in real warm weather what you do. Iput it in a cooler with ice and salt and change the water and refill the ice as need be.
Being a wild animal Chef, I have found that it is more important to drain as much blood from the meat as possible.  If you have the chance to take a lung shot this is your best bet.  Most deer will not drop in their tracks with a lung shot and in their panic will force more blood to drain from the meat. The blood that is left in the meat is what will affect the meats taste.  A rule of thumb, any type of pershable food can grow bacteria over 40 degrees to 140 degrees.  This is considered the danger zone for all foods.  If its warm, get the skin off ASAP, and cool down the meat ASAP.  Soaking the meat in salt water can cause the meat to get tough. And don’t let it sit in water, as it can water log the meat. Leave the ice in the bag.  But if you can, let the deer hang to season the meat for a few days. This will not only help drain a alittle blood, but it will be easier to proccess.  34 to 40 degrees meat is better, and easier cutting up.

I have let deer hang for 5-7 days. I have done this in warmer weather years ago. The most recent deer I just got,I kept it in the truck, because we were away hunting. never hurt it. 2 days. after I cut it up, I let the meat stay in a older fridge, unwrapped, and it skins over. This I think, helps to tenderize the meat. Then after a few days, I take it in the house, trim the hard skin off the meat, and wrap it for the freezer. try it, I like it this way. then it is time to chow down. Low 50’s is good, anytime at night temps hit 50 or below, let it hang. Happy Huntinggreen

I agree in warm weather, the sooner the better,  but if its in the low 50’s with over night in the 30’s I will let it cure a couple of days.

Well I always field dress mine as soon as I find the body (unless I can get a vehicle to it very easily. At which point I would take it to the camp and then cut it up). but as far st cutting it up for the freezer I just take mine to a butcher. I do keep the meat cold until I can get it to the butcher though. I did know a guy that would take his deer and put it in the trunk of his car and drove it around for about a week. He said this is how he "Aged" his meet. I am personally not that brave I don’t want my meat to spoil.
