Re:Ma Hunters / Share Information 10/21/2008 8:20 AM | | I finally got a call from the state Yesterday and they gave me another place that I could use my 4 wheeler and the first thing that I did was to bring up my GPS map of the location and looked for places that deer might be and set out about 12 noon, it was slow going all the way about 3-5 miles an hour it took me 1-1/2 on my 4 wheeler to get to this spot on the mountain. it was a great spot and go figure I found 3 tree stands this area had a lot of deer sign and thick. I called my wife to tell her where I was and I looked up and there was a deer at 45 yards away looking right at me It could of been beded , I couldn’t tell If it was a doe or a spike either way it was about 110 pounds this was at 3.05 PM. so I got back on the bike and went to another spot an started making my way across the ridge but could only get a little ways because of dead tree all over, I will have to go back a few times to get the rd cleaned up so I can get to the other spot. But this time I’m sure I’ll be alone :} |

Re:Ma Hunters / Share Information 10/20/2008 4:51 PM | | I hunt Northern Arkansas near the Buffalo National River, and what I have noticed on red days is that the hunting seems usually best early in the morning and late in the evening. We are in a little bit of pre-rut this past weekend so I stayed on the stand all day on Saturday the 18th. I did see deer early and late and I noticed that even the squirrels didn’t even move much, and when they did it was early and late. The only other deer I saw was a buck winding a couple of doe mid morning. This was obviously pre-rut activity which can happen anytime. I didn’t see any other deer during the day. Sunday, a green day, I hunted the same stand and the first thing I noticed was the squirrels were everywhere. I saw a sow black bear with cubs, a coyote, and a deer all from first light to about noon. The squirrels were still active when I got down from the stand. On Sunday afternoon there were does feeding in an oak flat near the cabin. A big difference from Saturday and Sunday, Saturday was basically dead! So that kind of matches up with what you’re saying, deer early on Saturday, and deer moving at mid-afternoon on Sunday. | THE BUCK STOPS HERE! |

Re:Ma Hunters / Share Information 10/19/2008 9:43 PM | | my friend called me last night and had seen 6 deer laying down about 2 PM in the field then around 3.30 they moved into the woods 2 doe’s were just walking around his stand for 1-1/2 before dark no horns so no deer last night. Today a full green day, he called me at 1 PM and said I just got out of my stand and didn’t see anything all morning, I’m on my way home I have to work tomorrow. The only difference between today and yesterday was that the barometer pressure was rising it went from 30.16 to 30.24 last night and holding steady this morning between 30.38 - 30.39 between 4 am - 6 am the started a slight rise to 30.41 by 11 am so what I see here so far is that weather its a red day or a green day it doesn’t matter if the barometer pressure is climbing or falling or holding steady, also i do know that when the preasure is high the fish dont bite so maybe the deer wont move eighter. |

Re:Ma Hunters / Share Information 10/18/2008 8:49 AM | | Good Morning its Oct 18 2008 At 7.am The Temp was at 26 with the temp going up to 55 today / there was no wind but would increase to 5 - 10 out of the NNe / Humidity was at 90 / Dew Point was at 24 / The Barometric Reading was at 30.21 and stable / Areas of dense fog this morning with sun and clouds today. My friend that hunts in Hillsdale Ny has a Tree Stand between 25 - 30 feet up on a hill side and about 150 Yards above a large field. There was no fog in his area this morning. He Called me at 8 am to tell me that he just took a shot at about a 90 pound doe that was heading up the hill and saw that the arrow hit its mark, But the deer ran and made a half circle out about 100 yards before it laid to rest. The arrow did come out the other side and left a great blood trail to follow with his Magnus 2 blade hunting head .The easton arrow was broken off when the deer laid down on it. The day was orange almost red as a poor day and he took a deer at 8 am, if its like that on a almost poor day I cant imagine how it would be on a perfect green day ? will have to see I have a few friends that are passing information my way. As for me I haven’t had the chance to get out, I’m still looking for a spot to hunt where I can get permission to use my 4 wheeler, the place that I do have permission to hunt is on state land and they have closed the rd down for repairs, so no permission for that spot this year. Happy hunting everyone
