auto fill of weather
It is now September 2016. Has there been any advancement in resolving the autofill option for the weather? This is actually a very nice feature when it worked.

some tips about hunting turkey.....
Turkey hunting in the fall is quite different from hunting turkeys in the spring. For one thing, it is not breeding season so turkey calls are not of as much use. In the fall, turkeys separate into groups of hens and poults or groups of gobblers. If you see one hen, you are not likely to see a gobbler in the entire flock. Turkeys tend to stay down in the open fields eating bugs until a hard freeze. They will then migrate up into the hardwood forests for beech nuts, acorns, etc. You can determine when this has happened by locating turkey scratchings in the leaves. If you know where they are roosting and where they are feeding, you can position yourself between the two areas. If you walk in too close to their roost, they will hear you and avoid you when they fly down.  Hunting is allowed all day long within designated hunting hours. Again, turkeys harvested must be checked-in at a checking station.      well the deer days program says that it will be a good day to hunt on saturday.

The last three days of our muzzleloader season was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Out of an average of 4 hunters per day, for our location Friday was an orange scale day and there were no deer seen even though the weather was good; and one hunter hunted all day.  Saturday was on the green side of the scale, and there were 24 deer seen from stands; and the weather was rainy.  Sunday was on the red scale, a blue bird day for weather (should have seen lots of deer) and we hunted until a little after noon and there were no deer seen.  Even though Deer Days says that the deer calculator is not perfect and they continue to update it, it is the best that I have used.  It would be nice if they could come out with a time calculator as most of the deer seen Saturday were mid-day between 10:46 AM and 2:35 PM.

I agree with ben. Other than I think his dates are a little off for where I hunt. but other than that I think he hit the nail on the head. if you look at how I hunt as a whole skiping the details thats how I hunt too.

Good info in my opinion. Welcome wildcard1282. Hope you guys get one this weekend.

cool

edit:

FYI: the biggest bucks are killed between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm statistically.

hello chris and welcome wildcard.

I don’t know what’s up with all of the >’s but I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

Here is how I like to hunt:

Pre-rut: (in my area it always seems to start on october 11th and end october 24th). I do lots of ratteling, mock scrapes. I also use more buck scent during this time. Hunt the bucks home area

Rut: (Starts october 25th and peaks on Nov 2nd and ends nov 20th). I use lots of doe scents, deer calls. stay on well traveled trails

Post-rut (starts Nov 21st and ends Dec 5th). I use doe scent spareingly but still use it. Hunt the bucks home area.

all other dates I hunt acorns if they have dropped and not depleted otherwise I will hunt food plots. As far as when is the best time to hunt I don’t really know. I can tell you this. I like to hunt in the morning over the afternoon just for the fact that if I do harvest a deer I have all day to track and take care of the deer. I hope this information has been helpful.

my name is chris I live in perrysburg ohio great for dear but I want to know the best way to hunt three types of the season. Pre rut, what day will it start rut, what day will it start and post rut what day will it start (into the winter season). If you can help me that would be cool i am a new bow hunter and i like to hunt out of a tree stand and i would like to know the best tricks for each season, because i know that you use a different times, when to hunt food plots, when to hunt main trails, when to hunt near his :core area, or when to hunt scrapes, rubs, etc. I would appreciate if you can help me and can you bat them in from a tree stand ALSO WITH A BOW IS IT BETTER TO HUNT AFTER 2PM OR BE FOR 11AM Thank you chris
